Introducing the Pla-Mor Room at the Dreamland Lounge

We've got a new room to show off, and it comes with its own piece of this building's history.

Tucked into the west wing of Taborian Hall's first floor, in the same spot where Dr. LeRoy "Doc" Williams ran his Pla-Mor Billiard Academy decades ago, we've opened the Pla-Mor Room as part of the Dreamland Lounge. Doc's pool hall first moved into that storefront in 1941 and did a brisk business with soldiers stationed nearby during World War II. Doc got bumped out when the USO took over the building for wartime renovations in 1943, but came back after the war and Pla-Mor held that same corner of the building clear through 1963. Felt right to bring the name back where it belongs.

The room made its debut on October 1st, and we couldn't have asked for a better occasion. We hosted my grandmother Ann McCoy's 90th birthday party there, Gran Ann to those of us lucky enough to call her that. Getting to celebrate her in a room with this kind of history behind it meant a lot to our whole family.

Now it's your turn. The Pla-Mor Room is available free of charge with a reservation during Dreamland Lounge hours, Thursday through Saturday, 5 to 10 PM. Whether it's a birthday, a small gathering, or just a spot to grab with friends, come see what Doc Williams started all those years ago.
